Battlefield 6 is now playable on Xbox Game Pass. The shooter joined the service today, Tuesday, October 13, for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members on Cloud, Xbox Series X|S, and PC — arriving through EA Play, which is included with both plans. The timing is not an accident: Season 5, titled Siege of Vegas, goes live the same day, so subscribers are not getting a quiet year-old port. They are dropping into the game's biggest season launch yet, on day one, alongside everyone who paid full price.

How Battlefield 6 works on Game Pass

Battlefield 6 is available through EA Play rather than as a direct Game Pass addition, which matters for who can play it:

  • Included plans: Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass only. It is not part of Game Pass Premium or Essential.
  • Platforms: Cloud, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
  • What you get: The full game — the single-player campaign, large-scale multiplayer, and Portal — not a trial or a limited mode.
  • EA Play extras: Per Xbox Wire, EA Play members can unlock the EA Play Deployment Pack, claim the Season 5 EA Play Pack, and earn recurring seasonal rewards. Game Pass Ultimate members also get 10% off eligible EA digital purchases.

One part of Battlefield 6 was already free for everyone: REDSEC, the free-to-play battle royale, is available separately at no cost. What Game Pass adds is everything behind the $69.99 standard-edition price tag — the campaign, the full multiplayer suite, and Portal.

Season 5: Siege of Vegas starts today

Season 5 arrives with game update 2.1.1.0. EA says the update became available to download from 08:00 UTC today, with the Season 5 content itself switching on at 12:00 UTC — that's 8:00 AM ET / 5:00 AM PT. Here is what is live at launch:

  • Vegas Strip — a new map that turns the Las Vegas boulevard into a battleground of multi-story casinos, hotels, restaurants, streets, and tunnels.
  • Area 51 — desert and tank combat on the surface, with an underground facility to fight through below it.
  • Four new weapons — the Mk 24, the RSPR, the Z84M, and the ELR-40 join the arsenal today.
  • Rapid Royale — a faster, smaller-scale take on REDSEC battle royale built around earned redeploys.
  • Ranked Battle Royale — REDSEC's ranked mode officially launches beyond Battlefield Labs, with redesigned ranked badges and new rewards.
  • A new Battle Pass, plus vehicle and anti-air tuning, Spectator Mode updates, and expanded Portal tools in the update.

Not everything survived the season change: Gauntlet has been removed from Battlefield 6 as of today's launch, according to the Season 5 roadmap coverage.

The Dead Space crossover and what comes later in Season 5

Season 5 is split into phases, and the headline event is still a week away. The Battlefield 6 x Dead Space: Convergence event runs from October 20 through November 7. It is a 16-player PvE experience set at Area 51, where Pax Armata forces uncover a Marker buried in the base — players fight through Marked Soldiers with the Pulse Rifle Battle Pickup to stop the Convergence from spreading. Rewards include the "Aegis VII" soldier skin and a "RIG-Certified" SMG weapon package, along with stickers, patches, and a player card background.

After that, the roadmap continues:

  • Phase 2: Casino Heist — November 10, headlined by a third new map, European Casino, built for close-quarters fights in destructible interiors.
  • Phase 3: Frozen Aces — December 8, bringing freezing conditions to Las Vegas and a new Operation spanning Vegas Strip and Area 51.

Platoons and server browser improvements — two of the community's most-requested features — are also on the Season 5 roadmap for later in the season.

Not on Game Pass? There is a free trial this week

PlayStation and Steam players are not left out. EA has confirmed Battlefield 6 will be free to play from October 15 to 19 on PlayStation and Steam, with every available map and mode open. It is a smart window: try the game during the Season 5 launch week, and if you are on Xbox or PC with Game Pass, you already have the full version waiting.

Also joining Game Pass today

Battlefield 6 is the headliner, but it is not the only October 13 arrival. Two day-one releases join it for Ultimate and PC Game Pass members:

  • Deep Dish Dungeon (Cloud, Xbox Series X|S, PC) — a dungeon-crawling exploration game about gathering resources, upgrading your camp, and pushing deeper, solo or with up to two other players in co-op.
  • Valor Mortis (Cloud, Xbox Series X|S, Handheld, PC) — the first-person soulslike from One More Level, the studio behind Ghostrunner, set in a plague-ravaged alternate Napoleonic Europe.
