Valor Mortis is a first-person soulslike from One More Level, the Polish studio behind the Ghostrunner series. That first-person part is the twist: instead of the usual third-person camera, its parries, dashes and finishers all happen up close, built around stamina, timing and mobility. You play as William, a soldier in Napoleon's Grande Armée who is brought back from a battlefield grave into a very different Europe. A mysterious plague is sweeping the continent, the soldiers around him have been twisted into monsters, and William has been reborn with the corruption running through him — which is where his supernatural powers, called Transmutations, come from. As you explore, you hunt for Catalysts and Ambers to unlock skills and shape William's stats. The story leans into real historical figures. Vincent Cassel voices Napoleon Bonaparte, and Jennifer English — the voice of Shadowheart in Baldur's Gate 3 — plays The Shrike, a rebel leader resisting Napoleon's empire.
