The short version
SULFUR 1.0 launches on October 28, 2026. Developer Perfect Random is ending the game's Early Access run on PC that day and launching it simultaneously on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. The price on Steam rises from $24.99 to $29.99 when 1.0 arrives, so buying before launch day saves $5. No launch hour has been confirmed, so treat October 28 as the date, not a time. That timing is neat: the game first entered Early Access on October 28, 2024, making 1.0 a two-year anniversary release rather than just another patch.
What is SULFUR?
SULFUR is a dark-fantasy first-person roguelike from Perfect Random, the studio developing and publishing it. You push through eerie caverns, Black Guild shanties, sewers, dungeons, and castle walls, fighting strange creatures, looting gear, cooking, and building a loadout from weapons you can modify and enchant. The hook that separates it from a straight shooter is risk: the gear you carry into a run can be lost if you die, and equipment you leave behind may not be there when you come back. Every run becomes a decision about how much you are willing to stake. The Early Access version already carries more than 60 firearms, hundreds of loot items, multiple areas, bosses, enemies, and quests, plus weapon modification and cooking. It is single-player, with Steam Achievements, full controller support, and Steam Cloud on PC. A free demo is available on Steam if you want to test the loop before spending anything.

Release date and platforms
- 1.0 launch date: October 28, 2026
- PC: Steam (leaves Early Access)
- Nintendo: Switch, Switch 2
- PlayStation: PS4, PS5
- Xbox: Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S All seven platform versions arrive the same day. There is no staggered console rollout trailing behind PC, which is the part console players usually have to wait through. Perfect Random says the team optimized the game for the full console set before calling it 1.0.
Price: buy before October 28 and save $5
- Steam price now (Early Access): $24.99
- Steam price from October 28 (1.0): $29.99
- Regional prices: adjusted proportionally, per the developer That $5 gap is the clearest reason to decide early. If you already know the loop is for you, or you played the demo and liked it, there is no benefit to waiting past launch day on price. Console store prices were not confirmed in the developer's 1.0 announcement, so check your platform's store page on the day rather than assuming the Steam figure carries over exactly.
What's new in SULFUR 1.0
1.0 is about finishing the game, not restarting it. The headline additions from Perfect Random's announcement:
- The complete Enchantments system. The full combined magic matrix arrives with five new combined enchantments: Scroll of Snowman Head, Scroll of Water Bomb, Scroll of Mud Ball, Scroll of Evil Seed, and Scroll of Teslacold.
- A quest log. A digital tracker for your current quests, replacing the notepad approach many players were using.
- Complete progression. The full run from beginning to end is now in place. Veterans should note the honest caveat: no new areas arrive with 1.0 yet, so this is about a finished journey through the existing world, not a new map.
- Melee hitstop. Melee hits now land with a satisfying stop, which also closes off the knockback exploit the developers mention.
- New oils. Including oils that counteract bullet drop, giving long-range builds another lever.
- Balancing, polish, performance, and quality-of-life updates. The usual 1.0 sweep, plus a large bug-fix pass the developers call out directly. In other words: if you bounced off Early Access because progression felt unfinished or quests were hard to track, 1.0 addresses exactly those two complaints.

What 1.0 does not include: multiplayer
Perfect Random is explicit about this, and it is worth repeating because it is the most likely source of launch-day disappointment: multiplayer will not be part of SULFUR 1.0, and there is no surprise multiplayer shadow-drop planned. Multiplayer is a future post-release update, not a launch feature. The same goes for DLC: free updates are planned after 1.0, including more firearms and additions, and the team says it would love to explore DLC if the community stays active through 2027 — but nothing is announced or promised yet.
PC requirements
The Steam minimums are modest, which fits the game's low-poly look:
- OS: Windows 10 64-bit
- Processor: 2.4 GHz dual-core
- Memory: 8 GB RAM
- Graphics: GTX 970 or equivalent
- Storage: 2 GB available Recommended specs step up to a quad-core processor, 16 GB RAM, a GTX 1080, and 4 GB of storage. If your PC runs most indie shooters, it will run this.

The only real deadline is the price: $24.99 becomes $29.99 on October 28.
