Bigby Wolf is coming back to Fabletown. The Wolf Among Us Remastered, Telltale and PM Studios' rebuilt edition of the 2013 choice-driven thriller, launches digitally on Thursday, October 29, 2026 — four days from now — carrying the complete five-episode story, a brand-new black-and-white Noir Mode, and five scenes cut from the original production, restored and playable for the first time. If you played the original, this is the definitive version. If you never did, it's the ideal on-ramp before The Wolf Among Us 2 arrives in 2027.

What is The Wolf Among Us?

Set in Fabletown — a hidden community where fairy-tale characters live in secret among ordinary New Yorkers — the game casts you as Bigby Wolf, the town's sheriff, investigating a grisly murder that threatens to expose them all. Based on Bill Willingham's acclaimed Fables comic series, it's a hardboiled detective story where interrogations, crime-scene examinations, and dialogue choices carry real consequences: every decision shapes how Fabletown's residents fear, trust, or reject you. The remaster includes all five episodes of the original run: "Faith," "Smoke and Mirrors," "A Crooked Mile," "In Sheep's Clothing," and "Cry Wolf." The story, characters, and choices are unchanged — this is a presentation and archival upgrade, not a rewrite.

Release date and platforms

The Wolf Among Us Remastered launches digitally on October 29, 2026, on:

  • PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store
  • PlayStation 5
  • Xbox One — playable on Xbox Series X|S through backward compatibility

No exact unlock hour has been published, so expect each store's standard launch window on the day. This is a purchase, not a subscription drop: the game has not been announced for Xbox Game Pass or PlayStation Plus. The Switch catch: the Nintendo Switch version — which would have been the game's first appearance on a Nintendo platform — was delayed on October 16, with no replacement date announced. Telltale says it is taking additional time to deliver the experience Nintendo players deserve. If you play on Switch, this is a "not yet," not a "never" — but there is no Switch version at launch. Physical retail editions follow later, planned for early 2027.

Price and launch discounts

The base price is $24.99. Launch discounts run from October 29 through November 12, with exact end times varying by store, and they reward returning players most:

  • Steam: 20% off ($19.99) new players; 50% off ($12.50) digital owners of the original
  • Epic Games Store: 20% off ($19.99); 50% off ($12.50)
  • Xbox: 20% off ($19.99); 50% off ($12.50)
  • PS5 (PlayStation Plus members): 20% off ($19.99); 50% off ($12.50)
  • PS5 (no PlayStation Plus): full price ($24.99) new; 30% off (~$17.49) owners

The owner discount only applies if you bought the original digitally on the same store with the same account — physical copies don't qualify, since ownership can't be verified through the store. Switch pricing and discounts will be announced separately, when that version gets its date.

What's new in the remaster

Noir Mode. The headline addition: an optional presentation that renders the entire story in stark black and white, inspired by classic detective cinema. You can switch between Noir Mode and the fully remastered color look at any time — one tap turns every interrogation and back-alley confrontation into a hardboiled film.

Five playable Lost Scenes. Cut material from the original production has been restored as fully playable scenes, including an alternate ending to the Anderson Street sequence in which Bigby must cover up a crime and persuade the police that nothing happened. Rebuilt visuals and audio. Character models have been rebuilt with more detailed faces, hair, and bodies; environments have new models, textures, and details — the Woodlands interior, for example, has been redesigned with a Victorian, turn-of-the-century look. Animation has been refined, the soundtrack remastered, and voice audio rebalanced for clarity. The story trailer also shows off Bigby's redesigned full werewolf form: broad muzzle, bared fangs, glowing red eyes. Bonus archive. Over an hour of behind-the-scenes video interviews — including Bigby voice actor Adam Harrington, Nerissa voice actor Molly Benson, members of the remaster team, and representatives from DC — plus a gallery of more than 100 pieces of art, some never publicly released before. PC specs (from the Steam page): minimum is Windows 10 with 8 GB of RAM and a GTX 470-class card for low 1080p at 30 FPS; recommended is Windows 11 with a GTX 1050 Ti-class card for high 1080p at 60 FPS. The game is single-player only, with Steam Achievements, full controller support, Steam Cloud saves, and Family Sharing.

Try it free first: the Episode 1 demo

Not sure Fabletown is for you? The complete first episode, "Faith," is playable free as a Steam demo right now — but move fast, because the demo runs for the length of Steam Next Fest, through October 26. That gives you the full opening case, the choice system, and the remastered presentation before you spend anything. It's the fastest way to find out whether Bigby's world hooks you.

Why now: The Wolf Among Us 2 is coming in 2027

Telltale has said The Wolf Among Us 2 will continue Bigby's story in 2027. The remaster is positioned as the entry point: five episodes, the full arc, the definitive presentation, and then the sequel waiting on the other side. For returning players, the Lost Scenes and Noir Mode are reasons to replay; for newcomers, it's the whole story in one package at a price that drops to $12.50 if you already own the original elsewhere — or $19.99 at launch for everyone else on most stores.
