Microsoft's second Xbox Game Pass wave for October 2026 is headlined by one of the biggest RPGs of the modern era. Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade arrives on the service today, Thursday, October 29, joined by eight more games rolling out between October 21 and November 3. The lineup was announced on Xbox Wire on October 20, with the psychological horror hit Mouthwashing added to the announcement after its reveal at the ID@Xbox showcase.

Six of the nine are already live, and today is the biggest day of the wave. Here is the full picture, including which subscription tier each game actually needs — because not everything in this wave is on every plan.

The headliner: Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade

Final Fantasy VII Remake is the bold reimagining of the 1997 classic, rebuilt with a hybrid battle system that blends real-time action with traditional command-based combat. The Intergrade edition bundles the full game with FF7R Episode INTERmission, a separate story arc starring the Wutaian ninja Yuffie Kisaragi as she infiltrates Midgar to steal the ultimate materia from Shinra.

The story covers the original game's opening act, up to the party's escape from Midgar — this is the first chapter of a multi-part remake project, not the whole saga. That makes its Game Pass arrival well timed: Square Enix has announced the trilogy finale, Final Fantasy VII Revelation, for April 8, 2027, so October 29 is the cheapest possible on-ramp to the complete story.

One note of caution: the Intergrade edition as sold elsewhere includes the INTERmission episode, but Xbox's announcement does not spell out the exact contents of the Game Pass version in so many words. Check the title's Game Pass page now that it's live if the Yuffie episode is a deal-breaker for you.

October 29 is the big day

Four games land on the same Thursday, and they could hardly be more different. Alongside Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, there is Mouthwashing — the first-person psychological horror game set aboard a stranded space freighter that became one of the most talked-about indie releases of its year — and Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted, the HD remaster of the 2009 tower-defense classic, now with local co-op, a versus mode and new challenges. Rounding out the day is Terrible Lizards, a day-one launch for Ultimate and PC Game Pass members.

If you only have time to download one thing on the 29th, make it the Remake — it is a 30-plus-hour RPG, so start the download early.

The two day-one launches

Scramble Knights Online arrives first, on Monday, October 26. The MMO-lite co-op action RPG launches straight into Game Pass as a Game Preview title for Ultimate and PC Game Pass members — note that Premium members are not included for this one. Terrible Lizards follows on October 29, also day one, also Ultimate and PC Game Pass only.

The tier split is the quiet story of this wave: five of the nine games are on the mid-tier Premium plan, but the two day-one launches and Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted are not. If you are on Premium, your October 29 haul is Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade and Mouthwashing — still an excellent day.

Already live, and the mystery pick

If you want something to play right now, Sandustry joined the Premium library on October 21 and Dodo Duckie — a 2D/3D-switching puzzle platformer about a duck on a reality-bending odyssey — arrived October 22.

Then on Tuesday, October 27, comes the wave's sleeper pick: The Séance of Blake Manor. The supernatural detective mystery is set in Ireland in 1897 and built around a young woman's disappearance at a remote hotel. It is on all three tiers, and it is exactly the kind of smaller game that gets buried under a Final Fantasy headline — consider this your reminder not to skip it.

Leaving soon: don't forget the other side of the rotation

A wave of arrivals means a wave of departures. Eight games leave Game Pass on October 31 — including LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga and Deep Rock Galactic — which we covered in full earlier this month. Looking further ahead, Football Manager 26 and its Console Edition are listed as leaving on November 10. If either is on your backlog, the clock is already running.

FAQ

Is Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade on Game Pass Premium? Yes. It is included with Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium and PC Game Pass, on Cloud, Xbox Series X|S and PC, from October 29.

Which Wave 2 games need Game Pass Ultimate? Scramble Knights Online, Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted and Terrible Lizards are listed for Ultimate and PC Game Pass only — not Premium. Everything else in the wave is on Premium too, except Sandustry's expansion, which is a Premium addition on PC.

Is Mouthwashing part of the official Wave 2 announcement? Mouthwashing was added to the Xbox Wire announcement after its reveal at the ID@Xbox showcase, rather than in the original October 20 post. Its Game Pass date is October 29 on Cloud, Xbox Series X|S, handheld and PC.

Does the Game Pass version of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade include the Yuffie episode? The Intergrade edition as sold elsewhere bundles the base game with the FF7R Episode INTERmission story arc. Xbox's announcement does not explicitly confirm the episode for the Game Pass version, so check the listing now that it's live.

When does Pit of Goblin arrive? November 3, on Cloud, Xbox Series X|S and PC, for Ultimate, Premium and PC Game Pass. It is the last arrival in this wave.
